AFAR HISTORY

HISTORY OF AFAR

As a result of the many news reports involving Filipinos abroad being executed, sentenced to death, imprisoned, met accidents, and encountered difficulties for lack of
legal, medical and/or financial help, coupled with hot news of corruption and poverty
in our country, the ASSOCIATION OF FILIPINOS ABROAD & RELATIVES (or AFAR) was organized on Feb. 20, 2007, with the vision of seeing an honest and efficient
Filipino government and people, and a two-fold mission (1) to help and protect Filipinos
abroad and their relatives and friends in the Philippines, and (2) to restructure the Philippine government and laws to minimize corruption and poverty, to make government services efficient and satisfactory, to promote and require honest in all
public and private transactions, and to develop the country towards peace, justice, progress, freedom and equality, economically, politically, socially, and spiritually.

Dr. Epimaco M. Densing, Jr., a former faculty of the Graduate School of Public Administration of U.P. and the Graduate School of Management of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, a Master of Public Administration, a Doctor of Management, and
a Fiscal Administration practitioner, was elected Charter Worldwide President.

Groups of Filipinos abroad and in the Philippines encouraged and supported AFAR’s
mission. Filipinos in the United States, led by Jesse Arteche, a leader in the East Coast ,
financially, technically, and organizationally made possible the reach of AFAR to many Filipinos in many countries worldwide.

TRIPLE OBLIGATION OF MAN

Every man has a triple obligation, namely: to love God, to love his fellowmen, and to love his country.

Man's life in this world is temporary, since all men, whether he likes it or not, will sooner or later die. And belief has it that man is composed of physical body and soul/spirit, and that the soul or spirit does not die with the body.

Belief has it also that man and all the physical spaces and universe are creatures of an eternal being called God, and that this God is eternal and lives in eternity.

Belief has it that man and all other creatures are created to exist under certain rules or commandments, although man is given free will. Because man has free will, belief has it that God rewards those who, while in this world, follow his rules or commandments, and punishes those who do not. Thus the belief that there is heaven and hell after death.

Loving our fellowmen and loving our country are commandments, which, as creatures of God, we are bound to follow.
